The City Pass must remain
For everyone who needs it
In Diemen, the City Pass is losing more and more users. Elderly people who have lived here all their lives are suddenly being told that they can no longer use their pass. Yet for many, that pass is the difference between staying indoors and being able to go out.
Going to the swimming pool, the theater, or just socializing for one euro is not a luxury. It is participation. And that is part of a municipality that cares about its residents.
But due to a decision by the municipal executive, many elderly people have lost their City Pass. Only those who fall below a strict income threshold are allowed to keep it. People who have just a little more are left out.
They are being punished because they receive a few extra tens of euros in pension. That is unfair.
Onafhankelijk Diemen says: the City Pass must remain available to everyone who really wants it, including all elderly people. We do not want a policy of pigeonholing and boundaries, but a municipality that looks at people.
The City Pass is not a luxury, it is a sign of appreciation. A sign that Diemen sees and values its residents.
Even when life has become expensive.
We want no one in Diemen to have to stay at home because a ticket is too expensive. No elderly person, no family, no child. That is why Onafhankelijk Diemen is committed to preserving the City Pass: fair, humane, and accessible.
Because participating in Diemen should not depend on the size of your wallet.
