Diemen is not a parking lot for Amsterdam

Many residents of Diemen are all too familiar with the problem. You come home in the evening after a long day at work, but can’t find a parking space in front<\/strong> of your house. Your street is full of cars from outside Diemen: from Amsterdam-Oost, IJburg, or Zuidoost<\/strong>. They put out a parking disc and stay parked there all evening and night.<\/strong><\/p>\n

And in the morning? Then we see commuters parking their cars in our neighborhoods and continuing their journey by public transport. Diemen is thus being used as a free parking lot for Amsterdam.<\/strong> That feels unfair.<\/p>\n

Residents and visitors to Diemen are losing their parking spaces and the nuisance is growing.<\/em><\/p>\n

Onafhankelijk Diemen believes this should change<\/strong>. For us, the interests of residents come first<\/strong>. Parking in Diemen must be fair: space for our residents and visitors first.<\/strong> Paid parking may seem like a solution, but it also hits our own residents in the pocket.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We prefer a smart and fair measure: adjust the times of the blue zones<\/strong>. Set them from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.<\/strong> and from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.<\/strong> This way, commuters can no longer leave their cars parked all day, and residents of Amsterdam can no longer park unnoticed in Diemen all night long.<\/p>\n

This concrete solution is fair and simple.<\/strong> It gives residents their streets back<\/strong> without immediately introducing heavy artillery such as paid parking.<\/p>\n

Clear times ensure peace of mind:<\/strong> everyone knows where they stand.<\/em><\/p>\n

We want a Diemen where living together is central. This also applies to parking policy. Where you can come home in the evening knowing that there is a spot for you. Where neighbors greet each other when they get out of their cars instead of driving around in circles in irritation.<\/p>\n

Independent Diemen believes this is possible.<\/strong> With understanding, courage<\/strong>, and smart adjustments, we can make the neighborhood ours again. This is how we keep Diemen livable<\/strong> and accessible for everyone who lives here.<\/p>\n

Together, we can give Diemen back to the people of Diemen.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
