There are public and accessible toilets in Diemen. But they are too few and far between. People with stomach, liver, or intestinal disorders, the elderly, children, and people with disabilities face the same obstacle every day.<\/p>\n

Where can I actually go to the toilet here?<\/em><\/p>\n

All too often, the answer is: somewhere nearby. And those who really need to go don’t have time to search. A toilet is not a luxury. A toilet is participation. It is being able to walk without fear. It is being able to go to the toilet without stress. It is the freedom to simply be outside.<\/p>\n

But in Diemen, there are too few public and accessible toilets, they are difficult to find, and entrepreneurs who do want to help receive little support. The promised practical solutions have yet to materialize.<\/p>\n

Those who depend on public and accessible toilets are literally caught in a bind.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Independent Diemen says: this needs to be better. A welcoming municipality that cares about its residents ensures that everyone can move freely and safely through public spaces. This is stated in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, but above all in common sense.<\/p>\n
